Ten pupils from year 8 spent four afternoons spread over a number of weeks in the F.EE automation robotics rooms, under the motto “interest - inform - attempt”. Here, they worked with the support of trainers and a number of F.EE trainees on a challenging project which required them to produce a functional and high quality metal sliding bolt from raw materials through milling, filing, bending, drilling and screwing. During their work, the pupils were able to gain comprehensive experience and knowledge of working with a range of tool types, techniques and materials.

The aim - to capture the young people’s interest in technology at an early stage and to inform them through an active exchange with the trainees, about the training vocation of precision mechanic for example - was impressively achieved. This was apparent in particular from the enthusiasm with which the pupils of the secondary school approached their task. The project creates added value for both parties: The awareness of the opportunities and requirements associated with training in this area is heightened. The trainees in turn assume a support role and also learn how to represent the company externally.

F.EE trainer Christian Becher was delighted with the dedication and interest shown by the pupils: “The project was once again a complete success! Everyone was keen to get stuck in - and that was fun.” Teacher Sarah Wittmann thanked the entire team at the end of the programme for the excellent realisation.
